KEYNOTE/WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE GENERAL OVERSEER, PASTOR DR. R.K. ADENIRAN TO THE CONGREGATION AND PARTICIPANTS AT THE ANNUAL NATIONAL CONVENTION OF VICTORY GOSPEL CHURCH INT’L AT VICTORY CAMP (MISSIONARY HEADQUARTERS) OWONRAN AKANRAN VIA IBADAN, HOLDING ON WEDNESDAY 25TH TO SUNDAY 29TH AUGUST, 2021.

Introduction

To God be the glory great things He has done in this great mission despite of every odd. Praise ye the Lord!

With utmost joy and happiness, I welcome all participants to this year annual national convention. We were unable to gather here last year due to the pandemic COVID-19 affecting all the nations of the world. However, let me seize this opportunity to thank and appreciate the Almighty God for saving all the members of this church for no single life was lost. Praise ye the Lord!

I cannot but thank and appreciate the members of the Supreme Council, National Executive Council, Board of Elders, Convention Committee, Workers and the entire members of Victory Gospel Church International for your unflinching supports always which have made this year convention a success. The Lord will reward you abundantly in Jesus name.

I hope and believe that this year convention will witness massive attendance compare to the previous years. As we all know that we couldn’t hold last year convention in mass gathering due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I say this because during the conduction of last year convention through house fellowships at our various branches and other centres, there must have been numerous souls won for Christ. So, I except each branch to come with greater number of attendants for this year convention. In the light of this, we shall register branch by branch through our pastors/leaders who later handover the list and registration fee to the Convention Working Committee. May God bless you as you do so in Jesus name.

Purpose Of Gathering

The theme of this year annual convention is God Of New Beginnings. The main objective of which is to lift our faith in God’s power and His ability to turn things around for the better to forget past traumas, failures, mistakes, troubles and stagnation. The concept of new beginning is to make the church device new strategies for church growth and expansion. It is all about change for the better.

Therefore, as an individual and church let us embrace the concept of new beginning to encounter growth and expansion. This includes:

  1. Individual spiritual growth and ministry
  2. Raising of leaders particularly among the youth
  • Taking new territories for Christ
  1. Financial breakthrough and management of resources
  2. Improve infrastructure and many others.

There is a saying that, “You can’t continue doing the same thing the same way and be expecting different result”. God wants us as a church to re-strategize on everything that will help in promoting and proclaiming the gospel.

Demand For Higher Commitment

Let me make this known to you, every new beginning demands for higher commitment. Our commitment to God can be best shown henceforth by improved punctual and regular attendance in fellowship/meeting, evangelism and soul winning of the perishing, paying our tithes regularly and cheerfully etc. So, if we are expecting a better tomorrow, we must be prepared to give and surrender our best to God today. He will surely reciprocate by giving us something better than our best. New beginning is a message of hope for us that God has not abandoned us neither has He forgotten us. He is with us and about to do new things that we will not even remember again the former things. Your story will change for the better.

Creation Of More Regions And Districts

As part of this new beginning, the leadership of the church have taken some new steps by creating more regions and districts of the church in different parts of the country and beyond. To those that were appointed as leaders of these new regions and districts, they must know that to whom much is given much is expected. Display total commitment to God and to the work assigned to you and prove your worth.

Call To Service

By the grace of God, there shall be more departments in the church to move the work of God forward. In this year convention, ordination and recognition of highly distinguished patriarchs and matriarchs shall hold as well as graduation ceremony of OBICO students for this year.

I use this opportunity to challenge all the newly appointed officers, ordinants and heads of various departments to see the priviledge they are given as a way of serving God more and better most especially brethren in the household of the Lord.

Whoever that seems affected about this new development in one way or the other should never see him/herself as being demoted or disappointed but all that was done is not by nepotism or favourism but by direction from the Lord as part of new beginnings. To those that are not yet ordained, never be discouraged, your turn is coming, try to be more committed to God and to the church in all you are assigned to do. There is time and season for everything.

Development Of Our Camp Ground

As I always say, our prayer of yesteryears is answered. Here in our camp ground, we have about 13 hectares of land that are yet to be developed. We must not stand aloof and watch things remain stagnant. This is now the time to be conscientious towards the work of Christ by ensuring we work relentlessly towards developing of the available land in the camp ground.

Mind you, this land does not belong to an individual but to the entire Victory Family. Therefore, we must endeavour to contribute our quota towards the development of the camp to become a place of comfortability that we will be proud of. So, I beseech us to gather our resources together and make this happen. I pray God to richly bless us to be able to do so in Jesus name.

Prayer For Our Nation

In the course of this convention, we shall pray for our dear nation Nigeria against insurgency, kidnapping, terrorism, Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen and for God-fearing leadership that will sail the ship of Nigeria to a glorious shore. This country needs a new beginning where justice, equity, peace and fundamental human rights will be uncompromised. Nigeria will remain one and indivisible entity in Jesus name.

Conclusion

I implore everyone not to miss any aspect of the programme as packaged to address your needs individually. Use this opportunity to have a good encounter with the Lord in order to genuinely have a new beginning in all your endeavours. Don’t be loitering about as an unserious person. God has prepared his ministers for an unprecedented encounter that will usher you into the new beginning.

To achieve this, we must be focused and be contented with whatever provisions that are made available to us as we believe God for a great improvement in the subsequent edition and  in accordance to what Paul told Timothy and I pray the devil will not steal our blessings in Jesus name. Once again I welcome you all and I pray you shall all have a fruitful convention in Jesus name.
